Top Ten Healthiest Pinoy Dishes

• SUMMA CUM LAUDE – SINIGANG NA ISDA

Quite possibly the most balanced soup in Filipino cuisine is the Sinigang. Its fish variation which is great for Salmon, Maya Maya or Bangus made it to the Department of Health’s (DOH’s) List of Healthiest Dishes. Fish is an excellent source of protein and Omega-3 fatty acids; Kangkong is packed with Vitamins A & C.

• MAGNA CUM LAUDE – TINOLANG MANOK

This is another beloved soup dish that is not only a hit for Pinoy families, but also won the DOH’s approval. Sayote, one of its key ingredients, is rich in folic acid which is an essential vitamin for pregnant women.

• CUM LAUDE – LUMPIANG UBOD

This classic wrap made of fresh vegetables is both nutritious and delicious. Typically made with carrot, “ubod”/heart of coconut palm, spring onions, singkamas and lettuce, this family favorite is rich in Vitamin A which promotes eye health and boosts the immune system.

• CUM LAUDE – MALUNGGAY

• CUM LAUDE – GISING GISING

Much like laing, this dish is both creamy & spicy but it is made of green beans instead of leafy vegetables. A serving assures that your family will get healthy doses of Vitamins B6, C, K, zinc & fiber.

• CUM LAUDE – GINISANG SITAW

This fiber-rich dish is made up of kalabasa & sitaw. It also boosts a lot of Vitamin C, making it a perfect nutritious side dish to any meal according to DOH dieticians.

Best made with bagoong, fish, pork, eggplant, kalabasa and ampalaya, this classic dish is high in Vitamin A & fiber. It is a great way to enjoy different kinds of vegetables in one delicious dish. This a living proof of long life among Ilocanos.
