CBMPC Pilots Domestic Travel

CBMPC held its first domestic travel in Tanay and Antipolo, Rizal on February 17, 2024. Known as the Lakbay Pasyal Program, this activity was participated in by nine CBMPC members, namely: Vice Chair Demetrio Opinion, Dir. Leticia Lourdes Camara, Dir. Lamelita Aquino, Gen. Manager Lydia de Asis, Board Secretary Evangeline Somera, Treasurer Emily Capulong, Election Committee Chair Lourdes Agustin, Persis Ilagan and Marites Gabriel.

The group first visited the Sampaloc Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SARBMPC) located in Tanay, Rizal. During their visit, they were given an orientation by its Board of Directors on the coop’s organization and processing of their products such as instant “salabat“ and ginger candies. These products are made from ginger sourced from the Dumagat farmers, who are also members of the cooperative. The SARBMPC Board expressed interest in establishing tie-ups with CBMPC on inter-coop lending for additional funds to expand the coop’s business and the possible distributorship by Countryside Builders MPC of their products.

Afterwards, the group also visited the Regina Rosari Institute for Contemplation in Asia, located in Tanay Rizal. Lunch was served after the mass. The next stop on their itinerary was the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage, also known as the Antipolo Cathedral, in Antipolo City. They also visited the Pinto Art Museum which is home to contemporary and emerging local art. It was established out of passion for the arts by a neurologist, Dr. Joven Cuanang after his retirement. Through arts, he wanted to open connections between diverse cultures and perspectives thus, the name “pinto”, which means door.

The Lakbay Pasyal Program is designed to provide CBMPC members with opportunities to learn about the operations, products and services being offered by various cooperatives as well as explore the other tourist destinations in the area. In addition, the program is one of the new income- generating activities of our coop as a joiners’ fee is collected from the members. It is also a good chance for the members to bond together. Moving forward, other local tours will be organized by CBMPC for its members.
