CBMPC Initiates Institutional Linkages to Stimulate Countryside Building

CBMPC  has  initiated  linkages  with  the  Bureau  of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the National Dairy Authority (NDA). In a concept proposal entitled CBMPC Investment in Countryside Enterprises submitted to BFAR, a partnership was proposed between CBMPC and relevant government agencies for the simultaneous provision of credit and technical support to rural enterprises that will undertake agri- fishery projects. The proposed program aims to stimulate countryside building through the “cooperation among cooperatives” principle. Preliminary discussions have been made and CBMPC now awaits feedback from concerned agencies.

The Coop is set to meet with BFAR soon to deliberate on the proposal as well as secure its approval of the concept. Should both institutions come to terms, a Memorandum of Understanding shall be forged to jumpstart the program.

As regards arrangements with NDA, a dairy cooperative in Magdalena, Laguna has been identified to participate in the program. A beneficiary of dairy processing facilities from NDA, the Magdalena Dairy Cooperative is wanting in operating capital to enable increased production of milk and milk products. Due diligence is underway as CBMPC has already secured the necessary documents needed.
