CBMPC Holds its 17th General Assembly
The CBMPC held its 17th General Assembly (GA) on March 25, 2023, seven months after the 16th GA on August 27, 2022. It may be recalled that the GA in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic; and the conduct of GA in 2022 was thus in accordance with the relief granted by the Cooperative Development Authority. The CBMPC Board has thus ruled that succeeding GAs of the coop will be held annually, within 90 days from end of the previous year.
The blended GA (face to face and video conferencing via zoom) was held at the Coop office in Pope Pius XII Catholic Center, United Nations Ave., Paco, Manila. In his message, Chairperson Rogelio Decal cited the unique characteristic of CBMPC where regular members are mostly retired employees of Land Bank such that the coop’s Board of Directors decided to accept also as regular members, their relatives up to the 2nd degree of consanguinity or affinity. Members who are still active Land Bank employees are classified as associate members and they will join the ranks of regular members upon their retirement or resignation. He further emphasized that in this uniqueness, the coop is giving special attention to its Succession Planning and Business Continuity Plan. Though CBMPC has accomplished so much during this span of time thereby making it as a centennial coop, Chairman Decal believes that there is still much ground to be covered to fully realize his aspiration to have only one coop for Landbankers. This may happen under a new leadership considering that most of the present crop of leaders are already in their mid -70s. He further articulated that a “one coop for all employees of Land Bank and its subsidiaries, will provide full array of services to its members and their families, and for the retirees to find a meaningful and productive life dedicated to the service of his community and country.” Proceedings during the GA went fast and smoothly, based on the agenda since prior to this event, copies of the reports and related documents were posted by management in most social media platform groups of CBMPC members for their advance information.

With the glitches in the original online voting system and nonavailability of the current Election Committee (Elecom), the Board designated a temporary Election Committee with Ray Almario as the Chairperson and Evangeline Somera (previous Elecom member) as member. The temporarily designated Elecom witnessed the canvassing of votes cast thru ballot and online, and declared the winners. The newly elected members of the Board are Lamelita Aquino, Edgar Frederick Generoso and Leticia Lourdes Camara. They will serve as Board members for the years 2023 and 2024.
