A Profile of Success: Jacinto “Jojo” Manalo

Jojo is a Treasury Specialist II at L A N D B A N K ’ s Treasury Brokering and Bonds Trading Department. Next year, 2025, would be his 36th year at LANDBANK and he is now seriously considering retirement. By then, his only child, Jeulian Clarisse or Jaja, would have graduated from the University of the Philippines where she is now a 3rd year Public Administration student as a university scholar.
Jaja’s graduation by next year wouldn’t mean his toil is over. For Jaja still wants to enroll at the College of Law. Jojo is a doting, supportive father to his “unica hija” and wouldn’t stand in the way of his daughter’s dream of being a full-fledged lawyer. Besides, he knows his daughter is continuing his wife’s dream of becoming a lawyer. His late wife, Cheriza, was a third year law student when she lost her battle with breast cancer.
Jojo has faced challenges after losing his wife at a young age, while raising his 3-year-old daughter. However, with the help of his strong family support system and the CBMPC’s credit assistance since 2008, he has been able to provide a good education and an easy, comfortable life for his daughter. Most of his loans with the cooperative have been for educational purposes, covering various expenses for his daughter Jaja’s schooling. When Jaja enrolled in UP-Diliman, Jojo arranged for her to rent a condo unit near her school to avoid commuting from their home in Las Pinas, considering the difficult traffic conditions in Metro Manila.
Jojo is thankful to CBMPC for the support he has received and he is sure that the cooperative will continue to be there for those like him in similar situations.
