Cooperatives Celebrate Coop Month
Per Republic Act 11502 of December 16, 2020, the month of October of every year has been declared by President Rodrigo R. Duterte as the “National Cooperative Month” in the country. It calls for the conduct of activities and programs that promote the principles and values of cooperatives and encourage cooperative movement by the Cooperative Development Authority, in consultation with the cooperative sector. This year’s theme is “Kooperatibang Matatag: Tumutugon sa mga Hamon, Daan sa Pagbangon, Nagbibigay Pag-asa sa Makabagong Panahon!” To celebrate the cooperative month, cluster forums were held virtually in October 2021 which were attended by some members of the CBMPC Board of Directors. The following topics related to coops were discussed:
• Financial Cluster – Legislative Support for the Cooperative Stabilization Fund
• Public Utilities Cluster – Ulat ng Transport Cooperative sa Sektor
• Consumers, Logistics, Marketing Cluster – QUO VADIS: Promoting Cooperative Products, Programs and Services Through Cooperative Value Chain Model
• Agriculture Cluster – Agricultural Cooperatives: Access to Finance and Programs A Continuing Challenge or Opportunity?
• Education and Advocacy Cluster – Strengthening the Cooperative Union System
• Human Services Cluster – Mental Break: Phases of Depression & Anxiety in the Workplace/Managing Mental and Stress
On the part of CBMPC, virtual in-house seminars were conducted by Chairperson Rogelio Decal for its members during the 4th quarter 2021. These consist of: Fundamentals of Cooperatives (October 2), Pre-Membership Seminar (October 3), Retirement Plan (October 16) and Credit Management Seminar (November 27 and December 4). Some of the members of the Board, officers and committee members were also able to attend the AgriCOOPH – sponsored seminars on cooperatives (various dates) and Hydroponics Seminar conducted by the UP Los Baños- Institute of Plant Breeding (December 7).
